Description
Poplar Housing and Regeneration Community Association is a housing association set up by the London Burough of Tower Hamlets to regenerate the area, especially certain Council estates whose resident voted to transfer to the new body.
Poplar HARCA is a Registered Social Landlord, which owns and manages around 9,000 homes in Poplar, Tower Hamlets. We also run many community activities through our network of neighborhood centres and work with a range of partners to deliver services to local residents e.g. employment and training advice, fitness classes, youth activities, elders groups and so much more. Our aim is to make Poplar a better place to live.

February 24, 2023 at 5:53 pmfollowing Poplar Harca’s CEO Steve Strides proclamation of “doing God’s work in Poplar” to create “a new Shoreditch”, brutally displacing working class communities and demolishing our social housing, dismantling the social tenancy system to build part-ownership models, financially out of the reach of almost everybody in our community, whilst their advertising hoardings boast of “affordable” housing that is being delivered in such small numbers it cannot be considered anything more than tokenism. Most of these people do not even live in the communities that they are waging class war against.
**Nobody ever voted for Poplar Harca to operate as a local authority, yet they operate in this exact way. Nobody ever voted for them to operate or control parks, schools, markets, housing, transport, police, pubs, arts centres, community centres or to brand their name across every school child in Poplar.

A few social housing tenants and leaseholders did get to vote for Poplar Harca, in a fraud ballot transfer many years ago, **where billions of pounds of publicly-owned housing stock was transferred, mostly free of charge, to a “Housing Association and Regeneration Communities Association”, who then mortgaged our entire community, via Bernadette Sarah CONROY a Poplar Harca board member harca development and a Vice President of HSBC, all with full liability firmly placed upon the Tower Hamlets tax payer.
But these tenants were all lied to, they voted for Poplar Harca because they were told that they would be given new windows, new kitchens and new bathrooms. They were not told the truth that they would be brutally and ruthlessly thrown out of their homes or their estate demolished and their family displaced, so Poplar Harca could do sleazy deals with sleazy property developers, like Londonewcastle.
Harca took advantage of the marginased eastend, and, social tenants who report asb issues for a long time get ignored until things escalate so that they can bring cases to court on the back of their failure to try and make the tenant pay for their claims, corrupt low level staff who lie. They need to also demand their original housing stock back off this sham housing association.
